Members of the Careers in Africa team flew from London to Luanda in February to meet with current clients, prospective clients and candidates that we have successfully placed over the past few years! Look out for an interview later this week with one of them.

Angola is undoubtedly growing at an impressive rate. For those that choose to move back to Angola to further their careers, they are confronted by a very high cost of living and a noticeable disparity between the affluent and the impoverished. Our Recruitment Manager, Sana Chakir, attended the Opportunity Africa conference held at the Ismaili Centre, London in November last year. Hundreds of investors and delegates attended, including the Vice President of Kenya.

The Careers in Africa team was recently invited to attend the 14^th Annual Euro-African Trade & Investment Workshop.

The conference covered a variety of topics centred around the growth of the African markets. Speakers from all over Africa and Europe came together to share their insight on the African economic story.

John Avberhota was recruited by G4S at the Careers in Africa London Recruitment Summit in May 2010. We caught up with him to find out how his life is going back in Nigeria.

Following on from the success of the Careers in Africa Recruitment Summit in April 2011, a second Summit was held last weekend in the French capital.

The Careers in Africa Team travelled to the capital and hosted our final Recruitment Summit of 2011. More than 250 candidates came to the event, held near the centre of Paris. They met with delegates from the participating companies: Philip Morris International, Lafarge, HP, Baker Hughes, Orange, Stefanutti Stocks and Dangote.

More than 300 candidates came to the Recruitment Summit in Johannesburg, held on 11 – 13 November 2011. The 14 companies that attended were very impressed by the high quality of candidates that came: Halliburton, Baker Hughes, DOW, Worley Parsons, FMC Technologies, G4S, Safal, Oceaneering, IBM, Total, Rio Tinto, Cuango, Oracle, Catoca.

Thank you to everyone that attended the Careers in Africa Recruitment Summit in Johannesburg last weekend! We’ve already heard of some great successes following on from the event. We interviewed one lucky candidate, Isaura, who was offered a position with oilfield services corporation Halliburton on-the-spot!

The Careers in Africa London Recruitment Summit was a fantastic success! We would like to extend our warm thanks to all that attended. More than 400 candidates came through the venue doors to network with approximately 40 delegates from 10 multinational companies.

Last week, two of our team visited Southern Brazil to get to grips with the market that is growing FAST! Roberta Dutra, Recruitment Consultant, tells how the trip went and comments on the outstanding breadth of opportunities available in the country.

One of our candidates, Mntuwabantu Nduvane, was recently interviewed for The South African newspaper. He is a South African engineer who has been invited to both the London and Johannesburg Recruitment Summits.

Gerrie Kapfidze was successfully recruited by Careers in Africa at the London Recruitment Summit in May 2011.

He is now back working in South Africa in the prestigious role of Country Manager for Unilever. We caught up with him several months after the Summit to find out how his experience has been since then.

Our team have returned from a very rainy few days in Lagos, Nigeria after hosting the inaugural Careers in Africa Nigeria Com Recruitment Summit.

Despite some minor flooding in the venue, more than a thousand industry professionals attended the Informa event, and Careers in Africa checked in over 250 candidates for networking and interview opportunities.
