First National Bank (FNB)
Career Opportunities at FNB
First National Bank (FNB) is one of the largest banks in South Africa and trades as a division of FirstRand Bank Limited. FNB provides personal, commercial and corporate banking services to more than 6 million customers across South Africa from large corporate through to the personal retail market.
FNB has a well established and expanding network of subsidiary banks in Zambia, Mozambique, Lesotho, Swaziland, Botswana and Namibia as well as a footprint through FirstRand in the UK, Dubai and India.
In late 2009, it was agreed that FNB Corporate Banking’s Group’s transactional product houses will be transformed into a competitive Global Transactional Service (GTS) product house, with a distinct focus on providing global cash management, trade and custody services, that meets the needs of corporates, financial institutions, state-owned enterprises and larger public sector enterprises. This service will be delivered wherever FirstRand operates around the world.
This new GTS model is enabled by an IT architecture and skills set that optimally supports the business model through providing deep specialisation, the ability to respond rapidly to market trends, the provision of cost-effective customised client solutions, a single-interface and sophisticated real-time information that meets clients demands.
Based on extensive due diligence, the product house’s vision is to ensure that FNB stays ahead of the innovation and competition curve by delivering yet another generation of corporate banking solutions into the international banking market. Key to the success of this vision is the enablement of these solutions by the GTS IT department.
As part of this exciting initiative, GTS IT is looking for highly skilled and motivated individuals to take part in this once in a life time opportunity to deliver cutting edge solutions through a mixture of Greenfields and integration development efforts. Successful candidates will be exposed to the latest development methodologies including Agile, Test Driven Development and the Team Software Process, with a key focus on quality. Technologies include enterprise java, exposed through service orientated architecture and integrated onto a high performance enterprise service bus. GTS IT will also focus on tightly aligning technology with business process through the use of modern development approaches such as business process modelling, complex event processing, model driven development and master data management.
