From London to Luanda...

Angola is undoubtedly growing at an impressive rate. For those that choose to move back to Angola to further their careers, they are confronted by a very high cost of living and a noticeable disparity between the affluent and the impoverished. On the road in Brazil!

Luanda Story

Here are a few snapshots of our week-long visit to Luanda. I hope they give you a feel of the city, a place that I found full of life, colour, smiles and, well, traffic, as most African capitals always seem to have. It was a place of huge contrasts, where dazzling skyscrapers are rising shoulder to shoulder to informal settlements and conditions of still shocking poverty; however, it is a place alive and abuzz with new opportunites and hopes, for a country that less than 10 years ago came out of a dark chapter in its turbulent history.

In between a hectic schedule we managed to sample the local food, buy the occasional bargain in the most expensive city in the world and “do as the Romans do”, which is always an enriching experience when visiting new places in faraway countries.

escolaGreetings from Angola, where we're all running about, engaging the market and feeling the buzz of a place alive with growth, opportunities, life and colours!

We've moved to the centre of Luanda, and were up at the crack of dawn to beat the traffic. I'm sending you a shot from the drive!
