arioLast week, two of our team visited Southern Brazil to get to grips with the market that is growing FAST! Roberta Dutra, Recruitment Consultant, tells how the trip went and comments on the outstanding breadth of opportunities available in the country.

There has been much made in the press over the recent months that the Brazilian economy will be held back by the lack of skilled graduates, particularly in the engineering sector. We flew to meet with a variety of companies based in Rio to see exactly how the employment market is looking.

It became clear to us as soon as our plane landed in Rio de Janeiro that the economy is thriving in Brazil. The city is literally buzzing with excitement as the countdown to the two most famous events in the world begins. The demand for construction is bigger than ever, as the country prepares for the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Olympic Games. As a Brazilian myself it was particularly exciting to visit my home country and to be impressed by the amazing development of a country that until recently was not always recognised on the global stage.

We met with various clients in Rio and Belo Horizonte. There is a huge demand for talent across the country, but there is a concentration of demand here. Many companies are investing huge amounts of resources into finding the best graduates. The aim is that these bright individuals will grow up with the company, as the economy expands over the coming years.

It was very exciting for me to see the many opportunities for matching up these multinational companies with the kind of excellent graduates that I know we can find.
