About Benin
Benin’s economy relies on the agriculture sector, in particular cotton, and transit and re-export trade primarily to Nigeria, its neighbour and main trading partner. Benin therefore looks set to continue to pursue regional economic integration, particularly in the important energy, transport and telecommunications sectors, given the significant advantages of its strategic location next to Nigeria and the continued possibilities offered by cross-border trade.
