About Botswana
Botswana has been one of the fastest growing economies in the world with an average annual growth rate of about 9% and its political environment is perhaps the most stable in Africa. However, the country’s decades of robust growth and huge budget surpluses are being put to the test by the global financial crisis which had a devastating impact on the mining sector, which accounts for more than a third of gross domestic product (GDP), and particularly on diamond exports.
