About Cameroon

Cameroon is a linguistically and ethnically diverse country whose geography ranges from Sahelian semi-desert in the north through grassland to equatorial forest in the south. This diversity favours varied economic and agricultural activities and over the last few years, growth has been strongly driven by the oil and agricultural sectors. Apart from the significant natural resources, untapped resources include natural gas, iron, bauxite, and cobalt.

The main growth drivers are agriculture, construction and telecommunications. Domestic demand, particularly household consumption, which was spurred by the increases in civil service pay and staffing since 2008 has also had a profoundly positive effect on the economy. Cameroon‘s geographical position makes it a transit zone, giving it a comparative advantage in the central Africa sub region.
