About Eritrea
Eritrea is a young nation-state which attained de facto independence in May 1991 and de jure independence two years later. The current post-independent period is characterized by challenging economic conditions on the back of the reconstruction effort in an era clouded by the global financial crisis.
The Government continues to place its hope for additional revenue on the development of several international mining projects. The large and ever growing Eritrean Diaspora therefore plays a key role aiding in the growth of this economy.
