Madagascar, sometimes referred to as the “eighth continent” because of its flora and fauna which is as unique as it is diverse, boasts a wealth of national parks, many of which are classified as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
The combined impact of the current political strife and recent global financial crisis has had a debilitating effect on Madagascar’s economy. However, the agriculture and mining sectors have been resilient.
