About Togo
Togo, a sliver of land wedged between Ghana and Benin, was the largest producer of phosphate in Africa and fourth in the world. Phosphate mining is no longer the most important activity, as cement and clinker export to neighbouring countries have taken over.
Togo's economy is driven by agriculture, particularly cotton, coffee and cocoa. The country also serves as a regional commercial, trade and travel hub.
