As we look back over the last decade, we’ve been considering how the hiring needs of some of our clients have changed. We spoke to International Recruitment Consultant, Nneka Ochonogor, to find out how the accounts for Diageo and Exim Bank have evolved over the years.
Our International Recruiters and South African nationals, Nomagugu Nthimkulu and Gerhard van Niekerk, attended the South African Business Club event last week.
The networking and cocktail reception was attended by Dr Zola Skweyiya (pictured), the South African High commissioner in London, and Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka – Former Deputy President of the Republic of South Africa. She gave a talk on the topic of ‘How can we improve the Quality of Education delivered in South African Schools?’
We hosted the launch event for the South African Youth Professionals organisation last Friday! The event was partly organised by International Talent Acquisition Executive Noma Mthimkulu. Attendees from the South African business community joined representatives from the Careers in Africa Team to talk about life in the UK, business opportunities in the UK and how South Africa can develop in the future.

It’s been almost a decade since we first launched the Careers in Africa initiative. Since then, more than 6,500 people have found jobs through us back in Africa. We always love to hear of success stories as a result of Careers in Africa Recruitment Summits. Whilst in Luanda last week, International Recruitment Consultant, Ana Quinas, visited the headquarters of Multichoice Angola. There, she caught up with Marketing Manager, Maria Abreu. Maria attended a Careers in Africa Summit in Lisbon in 2008, and then was headhunted last year to take a position with Multichoice. We asked her about her experience.
Our Recruitment Manager, Sana Chakir, attended the Opportunity Africa conference held at the Ismaili Centre, London in November last year. Hundreds of investors and delegates attended, including the Vice President of Kenya.

The Careers in Africa team was recently invited to attend the 14th Annual Euro-African Trade & Investment Workshop.
The conference covered a variety of topics centred around the growth of the African markets. Speakers from all over Africa and Europe came together to share their insight on the African economic story.
John Avberhota was recruited by G4S at the Careers in Africa London Recruitment Summit in May 2010. We caught up with him to find out how his life is going back in Nigeria.

The Careers in Africa London Recruitment Summit was a fantastic success! We would like to extend our warm thanks to all that attended. More than 400 candidates came through the venue doors to network with approximately 40 delegates from 10 multinational companies.
One of our candidates, Mntuwabantu Nduvane, was recently interviewed for The South African newspaper. He is a South African engineer who has been invited to both the London and Johannesburg Recruitment Summits.

As a BA Hons graduate in Business Studies at Coventry University, Rupert interned at Eastman Kodak in their marketing department, starting his career in recruitment at EMDS Consulting in 1996.
