Job Description

1.  PURPOSE OF JOB

 

The Deputy Head, Corporate Banking is responsible for originating and managing the relationships with corporate Banking’s portfolio which comprises of a wide variety of industry segments

2.  PRINCIPLE ACOUNTABILITIES:

 

2.1 DEPARTMENTAL RESPONSIBILITIES

 

&#149  Originate, maintain and develop relationships in the corporate market, focused within Tanzania

&#149  Manage a corporate liability & loan book within parameters provided by Risk Management / Management Board

&#149  Cross sell Structured Trade & Commodity Finance-, Treasury- and Payment products

&#149  Negotiate terms and conditions and coordinate with  Credit/legal for credit applications for new loan facilities for Corporate Banking clients

&#149  Manage the team of relationship managers for driving Current account business, with key focus on Fee line ( Forex, Trade, Cash management, TXN Banking) & achieve the desired level of Business& customer service

&#149  Identify various segments to capture for business growth on Current accounts/Fee line

&#149  Present and defend Corporate Banking credit applications in the Credit Committee

&#149  Provide regular credit reviews of Corporate Banking clients

&#149  Prepare and present certain Corporate Banking applications to Exim Bank

&#149  Review and authorize Corporate Banking credit applications from account managers prior to submission to Risk Management

&#149  Develop and maintain management reporting

 

2.2  MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

a)  Leadership:

&#149  Manage the Department efficiently so that performance goals and objectives are achieved

&#149  Coach and advise the Corporate Banking team

&#149  Identify and resolve any performance issues

&#149  Distribute and control the tasks to be performed by the employees in the Department

&#149  Communicate the strategy, plans and ideas to the departmental staff

&#149  Promote awareness and ensure adherence to all policies & procedures

b)  Vision

&#149  Formulate strategies for the future of his/her own field of work or organization of the department

&#149  Indicate market, sector and technological trends and developments for the coming years.

&#149  Propose and/or implement innovative ideas to enhance business results

&#149  Liaise with key operational functions to ensure client service delivery to agreed benchmarks

&#149  Manage the formulation and implementation of key client service programs

&#149  Responsible for completing the goals set by the management

&#149  Responsible towards the Management Board for specific area of his/her business

&#149  Provide the Managing Board on a regular basis with relevant information pertaining to the organisation of Corporate Banking

&#149  Review and sign-off of departmental reporting

&#149  Lead projects

 

2.3 SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS

&#149  Further develop the internal structures for Corporate Banking within

&#149  Support the Board in contributing to the strategy for the future of  her/his own department and for the organization of the team

&#149  Prepare and maintain the annual departmental Budget

&#149  Cooperate with other Department Heads to obtain the best financial and commercial results for Exim

&#149  Develop and maintain procedures and work instructions

&#149  Internalize and live the values, norms and behavioral codes of Exim

  1. REQUIREMENTS:

 

&#149  Holder of Degree in Banking or equivalent education.

&#149  MBA will be added advantage

&#149  At least 8-10 years of relevant experience in Banking, more particularly in Corporate Sector & Relationship Management

&#149  Sound understanding of corporate products

&#149  Willing to work in a small team and to take ownership

&#149  Excellent communication skills in English, both verbally and in writing

4.  SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

 

&#149  Thorough understanding of typical needs of Corporates

&#149  Ability to structure products / services to the specific needs of Corporates;

&#149  Ability to close the deals – A Must !

&#149  Fairly good understanding of assessment of credit requirements and pricing thereof;

&#149  A good understanding of Relationship Management Techniques and a practical approach towards achieving the objective

&#149  Analytics – to define, monitor and justify account / product / portfolio level profitabilityetc.
