1. Vision & Purpose
The role is to help the Bank to achieve its mission “stimulating a consistent expansion of and diversification of African trade so as to rapidly increase Africa’s share of global trade, while operating as a first class, profit oriented, socially responsible financial institution and a centre of excellence in African trade matters”. This will be by implementing optimally the bank long term funding strategy at a minimum cost and by managing our relationship with investors and Long-Term creditors by providing them with the appropriate information.

Nature & ScopeThe nature and scope of the job is to support the funding process of the bank whilst ensuring that risk is mitigated at all times by maintaining strong relationships with our investors, depositors and creditors while providing them with all necessary reports and information they will need but also by seeking and being a strong support in any initiative taken to adopt new funding institution (Equity and Debt). 4. Duties and responsibilities
a. Liquidity Management Strategy, Analysis, Planning and Funding Execution * Conduct quality debt and capital market analysis* Develop the Bank’s yearly funding plan and present for approval to the Assets & Liabilities Committee (ALCO)* Championing the execution of long term funding as approved by ALCO and Senior Management* Develop and execute funding strategy with an objective to reducing the overall weighted average cost of funds* Identifying new funding sources in order to diversify the Bank’s funding sources* Broaden the diversity of currencies for the Bank’s funding programme to include African currencies necessary in supporting the Bank’s Local Currency Programme* Championing the review and update all necessary funding documentation* Maintain all processes and procedures for long-term funding process and ensuring that they are up to date at all times
b. Reporting and Debt Covenant Management* Maintaining the model database for all financial covenants* Ownership of the Bank’s treasury covenants reporting process and ensuring that these are delivered to relevant investors in time* Work with Risk to develop treasury risk registers and ensure this is reported in time on a monthly basis* Ownership of the Bank’s treasury covenant reports repository for investors* Maintaining all reporting processes and procedures of debt covenants and ensuring that they are up to date at all times 
c. Investor relationship management * Championing the investors’ meetings preparation i.e. Logistics preparation and coordinating with the meeting arranger on the ground re venue and other logistics* Developing the Bank’s annual treasury activity timetable and ensuring that it is approved by senior management* Working with the Bank’s wider functions to prepare investors’ presentations * Maintaining all processes and procedures for investors relationship management and ensuring that they are up to date at all times
d. Contingency Funding Plan Management* Working with the Risk Department to finalize a contingency funding plan for the Bank* Documentation of process processes and procedures of the Bank’s contingency funding process and maintaining these going forward* Ownership of the contingency funding reviews, triggers, and calls of the ALCO to effect the contingency funding plan should an adverse situation arise
e. Pricing Management* Ownership of the review and update process of the Bank’s pricing model * Circulation of updated pricing information to all departments in time* Engaging with other functions on all pricing related issues/activities* Ownership of the Bank’s cost of funds management by ensuring optimal target levels set by the Bank are achieved at all times* Work with  Risk Department to develop a risk based pricing  methodology
f. Treasury Risk Management* Identifying, documenting and analyzing all treasury risks* Developing proposals for hedging treasury risks* Executing treasury hedging deals used to cover the Bank’s identified financial risks
g. Treasury Projects Initiatives* Championing the Bank’s deposit programmes initiative* Update LMWG and ALCO on progress of the deposit programme projects
h. Other* And any other duties as may be assigned to jobholder by the senior management
5. Skills, Knowledge and Attitude
• A Bachelor’s degree from a leading University in either Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration or other disciplines relevant to the position plus a post graduate degree in a relevant field/or a professional qualification in lieu; • Relevant experience of at least 8 years, which may be acceptable in lieu of a  post graduate degree as a minimum;• Demonstrated knowledge and experience of relevant treasury experience in the African environment;• Ability to make decision in a moving environment like international capital market and to negotiate with counterparties.• Good Excel skills and very strong financial modeling skills required;• Ability to communicate and function in a culturally diverse and change oriented setting with good knowledge of banking practices in Africa; • Ability to interact with senior officials of banks, corporates and governments; • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Knowledge of  the Bank’s other working languages is an added advantage (French, Arabic and Portuguese); and • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including ability to organize and manage human resources from varied cultural backgrounds to attain goals.
