Managing Director – Berlin

About the role

 
As Managing Director, reporting to the Mobisol supervisory board, you will work alongside our ambitious founder being responsible for the overall success of the Mobisol group by developing a healthy business strategy for the global off grid solar energy market with its millions of potential customers all around the world. Supporting and working with currently four national Managing Directors in the African subsidiaries as well as the Senior Management team in Berlin and the subsidiary in Shenzhen (China) you will be responsible for:
 
  • Leadership: translating Mobisol’s vision to “plug in the world” into a long term business strategy, providing direction to senior management across three continents, and ensure the execution of the business strategy in day-to-day operations and ongoing international project management
  • Business Development & Sales: driving the wholesales initiatives in existing and future markets (including our distribution partners) and expanding the footprint of Mobisol in Africa and potentially other continents
  • Corporate finance and HR: ensure that sufficient funds are secured at all times to continue Mobisol´s worldwide growth in close cooperation with existing key investors and Mobisol´s investor relations department, secure the smooth functioning of support functions as controlling, accounting, IT and HR
  • Product development: back up a fast and efficient product to market cycle in a competitive environment for Solar Home Systems and its appliances as well as for the Mobisol customer credit function, all with a keen eye on customer´s needs and competitor´s moves while at the same time ensuring highest quality standards of Mobisol products.

Minimum Requirements

  • Must have an engineering degree, MBA, or other Master’s degree
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience with focus on operational leadership in emerging markets
  • Able to take an analytical strategic view, as well as driving operational business performance
  • Proven track record in commercial success
  • Good understanding of global, cross-border, supply chain management
  • Good understanding of the B2B market in Africa
  • Should display an enterprising sales ability
  • Strong affinity to digitalization of processes and use of cloud software
  • Must exhibit a good knowledge of financial policies and accounting controls
  • Must display understanding of technology and electronics
  • Professional level of English, German and French language skills considered an asset
