Africa Improved Foods(AIF) Rwanda Ltd is looking for a Plant Manager.

Reporting to the Site Director, you will be required to develop, coordinate, implement and implement the manufacturing plan within the AIF requirements and guidelines.  Furthermore, you will develop, structure and manage the manufacturing plant to ensure the realisation of the objectives for SHE, quantity, quality and costs. 

 

Key Areas of Responsibilities (but not limited to):

  • Development and the implementation of the manufacturing plan, in cooperation with the management team members
  • Manage the execution of the manufacturing plan and ensure that the installations are managed and operated in a technically sound, safe and environmentally acceptable manner, by complying with all relevant external and AIF requirements and practices
  • Ensure the production and delivery of products in line with agreed planning and specifications (quantities and qualities)
  • Drive the plant reliability through root cause analysis and carry out horizontal replication
  • OEE measurement through the plant’s Availability, Performance and Quality factors
  • Deliver goods within stipulated deadlines and error free the warehouse
  • Development and supervision of staff, delegation of responsibilities and appropriate authority to Shift leaders, operators and junior staff to achieve maximum efficiency through proper use of Competencies, Materials, Machinery and Methods
  • Process control and Measurement in FS2000 environment
  • Lead the manufacturing organization, shape it to fit best with the business needs, connect it to all departments, develop people and deliver the results
  • Monitor the execution of the manufacturing plan and take corrective actions, in order to achieve the results
  • Define and implement performance indicators and ensure periodical reporting of actual performance against predefines targets
  • Stimulate continuous improvement in the production organization and define and execute operational improvement programs

 

The Successful Applicant Must Meet the Following Criteria:

  • Holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering/Mechanical Engineering/Food Sciences, Physics and or other Beta Sciences
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience as site/plant/production manager in an MNC
  • Proven experience with food, extrusion and milling
  • Strong leadership skills with demonstrated competences in championing customer focus, and in managing people in a multi- cultural environment
  • Proficiency in planning and time management
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural collaborative/team environment
  • Resourceful, hands on, self-driven, self-starter, proactive and independent worker
  • Ability to work with a minimum of supervision
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal, supervisory and people management skills required
  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines required
  • Pro-active in process-efficiency
