Job Description

As Portfolio Analyst (PA) you will support a team of Investment Officers (IO) with the identification, appraisal, processing, legal documentation and supervision of loans, guarantees to MFIs. Place of work is Nairobi, Kenya, and the job will include some travel mainly to African countries. As a Portfolio Analyst, you will later on have the possibility to develop into a position as Junior Investment Officer or Investment Officer. Applicants must be Kenya nationals.

The key responsibilities are the following:

  • Support Investment Officers in desk study of loan and appraisals;
  • Participate in some due diligence travel;
  • Coordinate with Investment Officers, Legal Officer, and other relevant staff in assuring that all legal and other loan documentation review process.
  • Follow up with investees in order to assure timely compliance with reporting requirements; Liaise with investees to assure all documentation is in compliance;
  • Periodically update country studies focusing on economic and microfinance sector quantitative data, in addition to qualitative data on the country. Work in connection with IOs in order to have most up to date qualitative information about local microfinance sector;
  • Contribute to providing risk management overviews for the region;
  • Potentially participate in broader Triple Jump projects such as social performance management development or general fund reporting;
  • Other work as assigned by the AME regional manager.

 

Job Requirements

  • An economics, international business, or finance oriented education at least at a bachelor level;
  • Minimum two years of working experience in an investment manager, MFI, a development bank, or a commercial bank are considered an important additional asset;
  • Familiarity or willingness to become familiarized with issues of development co-operation in a cross cultural context;
  • Diligence and strong analytical skills;
  • Demonstrable communication and reporting skills;
  • Results orientation, team player with ability to work in a dynamic environment;
  • Profound knowledge of English, both verbal and writing. Knowledge of French is considered a plus;
  • Willingness to travel;
