Regional HR Manager Sub-Saharan Africa

Grade: Manager/Senior Manager

Direct report to: Deputy VP Africa

Functional report to: SVP HR

Member of: Regional Management

Based in: Cape Town – SA

Key Responsibilities

Provides counsel and leadership in human resources decisions, procedures and programs for assigned facilities, act as a liaison for feedback and communication between Corporate Human Resources Direction and Regional Management teams.

  • Partnering with facility staff and corporate HR on all HR metrics.
  • Driving initiatives that focus on increasing employee retention and engagement
  • Developing innovative workforce (expat, regional & national) planning strategies and processes to anticipate staffing needs of operational projects and formulate actions to address the identified gaps.
  • Talent Acquisition/Recruiting; Developing and supporting talent acquisition identifications and initiatives. Identify and attract talent outside the organization.
  • Identifies issues and make recommendations to improve effectiveness of human resources functions in order to positively impact the regional business strategy.
  • Ensuring all HR initiatives and goals are met in accordance with corporate and regions objectives.
  • Administering company policies while ensuring local compliance and following standardized HR practices. Ensuring surveys on the evolution of labor regulations in each country of operation.
  • Building dynamic social relations, in collaboration with local trade unions or federations to ensure social stability;
  • Briefing new managers and employees about company policies and procedures. Collect information regarding employee satisfaction, work conditions, wages and performance reports.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • MBA or Master degree
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience
  • Team leadership, development experience and management
  • Demonstrated success in developing strategy, driving process improvement and effective partnering to lead critical business change.
  • Excellent planning, decision-making, and communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of employees
  • Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations within the field of Human Resources
  • Team player in a very fast paced working environment
  • Strong entrepreneurial spirit
