Rig Manager Trainee

Job Description

 

Ocean Rig is an international offshore drilling contractor providing oilfield services for offshore oil and gas exploration, development and production drilling, and specializing in the ultra-deepwater and harsh-environment segment of the offshore drilling industry.

The company owns and operates 13 offshore ultra deepwater drilling units, comprising of 2 ultra deepwater semisubmersible drilling rigs and 11 ultra deepwater drillships.

Due to expansion Ocean Rig is currently looking for Rig Manager Trainee for their operations in Angola. We are looking for ambitious and motivated individuals who are seeking a fresh and rewarding challenge that will give them the opportunity to work with the latest technology on this project.

 

  1. RESPONSABILITIES/ACTIVITIES

Reporting to the Rig Manager the Rig Manager Trainee will support the overall operation of the rig. These professionals will be trainer to in the future have full capability to:

  • Ensure that the rig is operated in accordance with all applicable rules and regulations both Governmentals’ and Classification Society’s
  • Ensure that the rig is safely operated in accordance with the Ocean Rig Management System
  • Ensure that the rig is operated within the frame of the Drilling Contract and in accordance with Ocean Rig’s approved operating budget. He shall timely establish necessary input for the Operating budget
  • Ensure that proper lines of communication are established and maintained both internally and externally
  • Establish a good working relationship with the Operators representatives both onshore and offshore
  • Ensure that only qualified and certified personnel are being employed as crewmembers
  • Ensure that the rig including all fixed and loose equipment are being properly maintained and inventoried in accordance with the established maintenance and spare parts inventory system
  • Ensure the rig has sufficient stocks of consumable and spare parts readily available at all times
  • Ensure that proper document filling systems are established and maintained both onshore and offshore in order to have an efficient document traceability
  • Timely review, distribute, file and answer to all operational and technical documents required for the drilling units operation
  • Keep Ocean Rig properly informed of important matters within his area of responsibilities
  • Ensure that the established HES & Q system including the operation manual and all offshore procedures are implemented, maintained, and adhered to
  • Inform relevant personnel of his whereabouts so he can quickly be reached in case of an emergency
  • Visit rig at once a month

 

  1. SPECIAL DUTIES
  • Assist in marketing of the rig
  • Assist in bid/tender preparation
  • Perform duties in Emergency Response Team for Base Office (or Head Office) as further detailed in the Onshore Emergency Response Plan (CO-OEP) (or local onshore Emergency Plans established for the Base Office location)

 

  1. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
  • High energy and motivated individual willing to
  • Relevant Engineering Degree, such as Mechanical, Electrical, Marine, Petroleum Engineer, etc.
  • Desirable that the Rig Manager Trainee relevant oilfield experience
  • Familiar with all relevant Government rules and regulations applicable for operating a deep water drilling rig in the applicable country or area of operation
  • Preferably familiar wit STAR systems for maintenance and warehouse inventory control
