Sales Trader Equities – Citigroup Global Markets (CGM)

Reporting to: Head of sales trading

Location: Johannesburg

Job Purpose:

To help further develop the SA equities sales trading franchise by:

  • Offering a “best in class” sales trading service to clients of CGM, thereby helping CGM maximize commissions earned.
  • Growing the client-base by introducing clients with adequate profile and scope.

 As a member of the sales trading team you will interface with:

  • The international CEEMEA sales trading teams.
  • The South African research team.
  • The South African sales team.
  • The South African trading team.
  • CGM’s global client base.

Job Background/context:

A Sales Trader plays an important role in harnessing the expertise of our traders, analysts, and sales people in ensuring that the clients of Citigroup achieve best execution within the context of their specific instructions.

The sales trader forms the critical link between the trading desks of our clients and CGM.

Key Responsibilities include inter alia:

  • Manage the sales trading relationships for those clients assigned to you and provide feedback to be used in ensuring that the CGM’s sales trading platform is positioned to service client requirements and capitalise on market opportunities.

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Client specific knowledge/experience (investment style, FUM, etc).
  • Market knowledge/experience, both local and international.
  • Systems knowledge, both internal to CGM and external.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the JSE regulatory and settlement processes.

Skills:

  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Administrative and management skills competencies.

Qualifications:

Relevant market and other qualifications including inter alia, FSA (UK), Series 7 (US), Safex, et al.

Competencies: Dynamic, self-starter
