Purpose of the Job

The Regional Senior Contracts Manager will provide support to the Director of Commercial. The individual should be commercially and contractually aware with an ability to work under pressure across multiple projects and manage time effectively..

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare Cost Value Reconciliation Monthly reports tracking “actual v forecasts” during the project delivery phase and operational phase on each project
  • Solid understanding of the Power Purchase Agreement and the approval levels set out within the Group’s Risk Management Policy
  • Providing daily commercial support to projects which includes negotiating and finalizing any ongoing disputes with customers
  • Managing the Payment Securities both inward and outward, involving regular discussions with the Group Treasury team.
  • Adopting the role of business unit Insurance contact – understanding the group’s policies and being able to facilitate any insurance type questions/queries either through discussions with the insurance broker or through discussions with the Group Treasury team
  • Working with the regional finance teams to ensure all outstanding debt is collected from the customer
  • Preparing, negotiating and executing sub-contract agreements supporting the Regional Project Management Teams
  • Providing assistance to the Head of Legal in the negotiation and execution of Power Purchase Agreements
  • Supporting the Head of Legal in completing the Project Risk Summary, ensuring compliance with the Group’s Risk Management Policy
  • Reviewing and processing subcontractor’s applications for payment and managing any variations that arise
  • Processing and approving payments to the consultants within the Region by maintaining Commission Statements for each
  • Develop and Deliver Contractual Awareness training across the Regional team
  • Interaction and communication providing support to the Central Function Commercial Department on all commercial aspects

The successful applicant must possess the following:

  • A Degree in Construction Management/Quantity Surveying/Engineering or a related field
  • A minimum of 15 years of work experience in commercial contract and financial management of projects including post contract management
  • Experience in preparing the Cost Value Reconciliation on a monthly basis with proper monitoring
  • Strong project management skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent leadership and people skills
  • Proven market knowledge in West and or Central Africa in the oil, gas, energy, power, mining, engineering and similar industries
  • Bi-lingual ability in both English and French
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to engage with senior level stakeholders
  • Ability to travel frequent across West and Central Africa
