Robert Bosch GmbH, also popularly known as Bosch was established by Robert Bosch in 1886 in Stuttgart, Germany. Bosch is a German, multinational engineering, technology and services company. Its headquarters are in Gerlingen, near Stuttgart, Germany. The world’s, largest supplier in the following business sectors: Mobility Solutions, Industrial Technology, Consumer Goods, and Energy and Building Technology. It is at the forefront in innovation, and precision as well as high quality are at the cornerstone of its brand. It has been operating successfully for some 129 years. Its humble beginnings started in the vehicle servicing industry, ten years later it became a giant, global supplier in the automotive industry which then lead to it becoming a force to be reckoned with. Today, Bosch currently employs over 375,000 associates in nearly 250 subsidiaries and associated companies in 150 countries worldwide.

Bosch operates roughly 260 production sites worldwide, of which nearly 200 are located outside Germany – in Europe, North and South America, Africa, Asia and Australia. Seventy two percent of generated sales are accounted for by international business.

Bosch has extended its continuous expansion into Africa, allowing “The Bosch Group” an even better opportunity in promoting the business in Africa, furthermore, the objective is to be closer to our customers and improve quality of life for the people of Africa on a lasting basis with our innovative products and solutions; having opened regional sales offices in ten countries of the African continent; namely, South Africa, Egypt, Kenya, Morocco, Angola, Nigeria, Mozambique, Algeria, Ghana and Tunisia.

The Bosch Africa flagship office is in Midrand, South Africa with its manufacturing site in Brits. Automotive components, assembly of packaging machinery and hydraulic drive systems are all manufactured at the Brits plant. 92% of the share capital of Robert Bosch GmbH is held by Robert Bosch Stiftung GmbH, a charitable foundation that invests in activities such as healthcare, science, education and international relations.
