Africa – Head of Oil & Gas

Job Description

Aggreko have identified considerable growth potential within their Oil and Gas business and are seeking to appoint a Head of Oil and Gas, a newly created position. The Head of Oil and Gas will take a focus and strategic approach to developing business opportunities within the African Oil and Gas sector, driving returns and margins. The Head of Oil and Gas will develop a strategic plan for Aggreko’s approach to developing business opportunities within the African Oil and Gas sector, mapping opportunities and prioritizing the application of Aggreko resources accordingly. He/She will have a successful track record of selling capital equipment to Oil and Gas houses and will have the gravitas and adaptability to be able to engage at all levels within customer organizations from the executive leadership level to the site.

Job Accountabilities/Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the formulation of the Oil and Gas sector strategy for Africa and execute across it the region, maximizing synergies via a Matrix structure, sales plans and periodic business strategy updates.
  • Co-own & Deliver monthly and annual sales targets with Area Sales Managers and Area General Managers in order to meet top line revenue growth across the area but also their own specific sales targets.
  • Develop and implement a value proposition for the Oil and Gas Sector, taking in account all aspects, customer base, area/ countries of focus, organisation, etc…
  • Analyse and prioritise market opportunities and project through ongoing market assessment and execution of such plan in conjunction with the respective sales team/unit.
  • Be an internal Oil and Gas sector expert within Aggreko, staying abreast of new entrants/players, market developments, growth rates and technological innovation. Formulate delivery plans with regional and country business units, utilising knowledge of customer challenges and matching them to Aggreko solutions.
  • Lead the development of existing accounts and relationships as well as establishing new relationships/customers within the African Oil and Gas sector.
  • Manage and coach a team of business development managers for the Oil and Gas sector. Coach peers across the African region regarding the Oil and Gas sector.
  • Champion the training, performance management and career development of employees.
  • Lead the analysis of competitors providing similar services to the Oil and Gas sector, including understanding their strategy, organisation, cost base and pricing and then embedding processes within business units which will lead to successful sales activity and counter strategies.
  • Work closely with Marketing to ensure the correct messaging is being relayed to the Oil and Gas sector.
  • Ensure adherence to corporate risk management and commercial procedures.
  • Develop and protect Aggreko brand and create and deliver effective internal and external stakeholders relations and communications.

Personal Specification

Person Specification/Job Requirements

 

  • 15+ years in the Oil and Gas industry, preferably with an Oil and Gas service company or capital equipment provider. Previous Africa experience is essential
  • Bachelor’ s degree in engineering, business, marketing, or related field or equivalent experience
  • Willingness to travel to and within Africa.

 

Desired Skills

 

  • Extensive network of Oil and Gas customer contacts in Africa, including International Oil and Gas companies, local African owned Oil and Gas companies, Oil and Gas service companies/EPC groups
  • Prior experience in business development, sales and/or operations and a track record of achieving sales targets
  • Proven track record of executing (completing) strategy development, market development, account management and competitor analysis plans.
  • Able to understand and appreciate the challenges of diverse geographies and cultures
  • Proven ability to operate in a matrix environment where there is a need to influence and persuade.
  • An excellent presenter and verbal/written communicator
  • Able to access and communicate effectively with Executive Level Officers of customer base.
  • Excellent customer relationship and management skills
