General Manager: New Markets Africa

Reporting to the Africa Regional President the GM New Markets will be a strong candidate experienced in general management with an in-depth knowledge of Africa and growing new markets. Suitable candidates will be senior executives out of a consumer product environment and will ideally have had exposure to manufacturing, wholesale, franchising, and retailing. It will be essential for the person coming into this position to have a strong understanding of the nuances of doing business in Africa. The suitable individual will have an entrepreneurial mindset with strong commercial and business acumen gained within a large corporate, multinational organisation.


Key Deliverables:

  • Leading acquisition and expansion of new markets across Africa and Middle East.
  • Leading in the launch of footwear and apparel with best in class launches across the region.
  • Building business relationships across the region.
  • Design of route to new markets and innovation, strategies to deliver brand growth, P & L management, and execution.
  • Develop the franchise module for the region.

  • Must possess a strong track record of success in previous roles in order to quickly gain credibility
  • Excellent communication skills to enable the incumbent to build effective relationships across all levels of the organisation
  • Experience in a senior leadership position in FMGC/retail
  • Prior experience growing a consumer product business in a medium to large size manufacturing organisation in emerging markets in Africa
  • Relevant undergraduate degree
  • Education qualification of MBA from Top Business School
  • Team management and people leadership experience.
  • Multifunctional and multicultural leadership experience
  • Strong track record of building businesses & teams
