IP Engineer

Job Description

Summary
 
The IP Engineer design, implement and maintain the network. The IP Engineer must offer technical assistance to the IP Network devices such as Routers and Switches. He/she is responsible for handling technical issues, fault finding and maintenance operations.
 
Role & Responsibilities
  • Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches)
  • Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes
  • Ensure system availability and reliability
  • Monitor system resource utilisation, trending, and capacity planning
  • Provide Level-1 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues
  • Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure
  • Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution

Personal Specification

Education and Experience
 
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Telecommunications
• Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant technical experience with a large network
• Cisco qualifications, minimum CCNP studying towards CCIE/CCSP.
• Must have routing and switching experience
• Must have knowledge of setting up VLAN and IP addressing.
• Knowledge on BGP, IS-IS, OSPF protocols.
• Experience with IP/MPLS and L2/L3 services
• Hands on knowledge of Nokia and Cisco products
