Manufacturing Engineer– Job Profile

Nigeria Distilleries Limited is looking for a skilled Manufacturing engineer to be responsible for the technical management, maintenance, and development of new and existing production lines.

Summary of Role

The Manufacturing Engineer’s responsibilities will revolve around studying requirements for each production process and product at hand, and determining the most efficient operations based on these requirements. More specifically:

  • Evaluating manufacturing processes
  • Developing effective automated and non-automated systems
  • Testing new and existing production procedures

Key responsibilities and accountabilities

  • Designing new equipment, processes, procedures and systems
  • Evaluate manufacturing processes based on quality criteria, such as efficiency and speed
  • Study production and machine requirements
  • Organise and manage manufacturing workflows and resources
  • Integrate disparate systems (e.g. equipment handling, transport)
  • Optimise facility layouts, production lines, machine operations and network performance
  • Resolve issues and delays in production
  • Find ways to reduce costs and maximize quality
  • Train staff in new and existing processes
  • Collaborate with other engineers, contractors and suppliers
  • Ensure that manufacturing procedures follow safety and environmental regulations
  • Upgrade systems and processes with new technology
  • Repairing equipment
  • Supervising engineering and technical staff
  • Oversee and communicate ISO certifications, standards, improvements and identify changes and areas of improvement. 
  • Liaising with suppliers, customers and research and development staff.

Personal Specification

Experience and Functional Capabilities

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field. 
  • COREN Certified
  • 8+ years of sales experience in FMCG/Drinks Business
  • 4+ years’ experience in a significant leadership role in FMCG/Drinks Business
  • Good knowledge and extensive work experience in Multi Plant Manufacturing Experience
  • Proven success working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
  • Change Management skills required.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills required.
  • Excellent entrepreneurial and commercial awareness
  • High degree of assertiveness across cultural and geographical diversity
  • Persuasive skills, with networking competence
  • HSE Training and Exposure
