Manager, IT Services (Business Information Management)

Job Description

1. Nature & scope

•  The role of the position holder will be to investigate, analyze, understand and document the business requirements of functional units. The holder will also be responsible for system development lifecycle which covers architecture, design, selection, testing and implementation of solution and management information reports in line with business objectives and overall strategy of Afreximbank.

2. Duties and responsibilities

a)  Investigate, analyse, understand and document the business requirements of projects or work requests and ensure that the project is successfully implemented

b)  Work with business units to identify and frame their IT needs and translate Business requirements into implementable solutions

c)  Assist the Business in the creation of business cases and cost-benefit analysis

d)  Create and document business requirements and functional specifications

e)  Manage projects and work with other project managers to ensure that projects are delivered on-time, on-budget and within scope

f)  Support the head of the IT Unit in business relationship management

g)  Create, architect and design business solutions and reports to meet business objectives

h)  Actively manage the timely resolution of outstanding defects or issues impacting the business

i)  Support the preparation of key presentations, strategy documentation and other documents

j)  Handles request on application development for new and existing applications

k)  Manages the life cycle of a new software from the System study stage to the implementation stage

l)  Participate in software selection process

m)  Manages business process mapping

n)  Investigate user problems, identify root cause, determine possible solutions, test and implement solutions

o)  Manage User Acceptance Testing

p)  Any other duties as may be assigned by management.

3. Skills, Knowledge and Attitude

•  Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or other relevant degree from a recognized University, a Master’s degree in a relevant field or a recognised professional qualification in lieu;

•  Minimum of 8 years experience as a Senior Business Analyst in a modern international ICT environment preferably an international bank;

•  Working knowledge of Project Management, Business Analysis, Requirement and functional specification

•  Demonstrated expertise in all aspects of banking solution

•  Demonstrated expertise in Solution architecture and system development life cycle

•  Working knowledge of system testing

•  Ability to map business processes and develop functional specification

•  Implementation experience of ERP Software (Oracle, SAP, Peoplesoft, etc) very desirable

•  Knowledge of VB Scripting desirable;

•  Ability to communicate and function in a culturally diverse and change oriented setting;

•  Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Knowledge of  the Bank’s other working languages is an added advantage

•  Willingness to travel and to work long hours where required in order to achieve the Bank’s objectives;
