Employee Relations
• Provides education, advice and guidance in the interpretation, application and implementation of employment policies, processes and procedures to Management and employees in accordance to the current labour laws
• Promotes harmonious labour relations, ensuring employer/employee union relationship is strategically managed
• Monitors and apprises Management of any developments in the legal matters affecting employment and the organisation
• Key player in the consultation and negotiation with employee union on collective bargaining processes and other matters
• Promotes employee communication via various methods including town hall, newsletter, etc
Compensation and benefits
• Administers compensations and benefits in line with policies and procedures
• Supports the GM in the preparation of salary increases and bonus proposals and EOY process
• Compiles individual compensation proposals for new hires and or promotions for onward approvals by Management
• Participates in the annual salary reviews, analyses reports, briefs Management on the results for onward use in various employee decisions as applies
Organisational development
• Coordinates annual organisational performance management process encompassing goal setting and formal reviews. Supports and coaches Managers and employees in the online process
• Provides supports to management in the review of organisational set up for various business units in terms of staffing levels, organisational structures and related OD action items e.g. retrenchment, recruitment, business closures etc
• Identifies, recommends and implements agreed initiatives to promote better understanding of the company culture
• Key player in the implementation of Global initiatives locally, supporting the organisation through change management initiatives
HR Development
• In collaboration with Line Management, facilitates training needs identification and implementation of agreed training plans
• Key player in the implementation of Talent management programs in line with global guidelines and local requirements
General Management and Administration
• Key player in the preparation and management thereon, of staff budget and costs across the organisation
• Manages suppliers falling under HR for service delivery and payments thereon including medical, cleaning, catering, refuse collection, training, recruitment, maintenance and repair etc in line with existing contracts
• Manages usage of company pool cars, ensuring timely maintenance as per schedule and daily allocations as per requirements
• Maintains company houses in terms of right of occupancy, tenure, collection of monthly rent and facilitating repairs and maintenance
• Represents the Company on labour cases as key witness at CMA and or courts of law
• Maintains reliable HR records –both in hard copy and soft via the HRIS (workday, trafhire, payroll)
Company Secretarial services
• Acts as a secretary to the Board & AGM, convenes various meetings by the order of the Board including Board’s Audit Committee, Board of Directors and Annual General Meeting or any other as may be ordered
• Compiles statutory annual returns as per Business Registration & Licensing Agency (BRELA) requirements
• Acts as Secretary to the Board of Directors meetings coordination, maintains reports, minutes and circulars to board members
• Custodian of Board’s transactions records including register of members, directors and secretaries, minutes, notices, resolutions, reports and statutory returns
• Liaison person between the Board and Management
