JOBS MISSIONS
 
This job is to harness the leadership and management of the Networks function by ensuring effective planning, deployment, operational performance and maintenance of MTN radio networks, switching systems, RF Transmission systems and fiber network to deliver excellent network quality of service and meet other company objectives.
 
DETAILS DESCRIPTION
 
• Provide input towards the development of the strategy for the Network function in the MTN OPCO in line with global best practice and Group directive in order to ensure that the organization is viable both internally and externally and as a social and financial entity 
• Provide leadership and management with the visibility; control and decision support required to understand and manage network; as well as provide the team with the expertise to build the teams’ capabilities in order to drive effectiveness and efficiencies within the team
• Deliver the best in class network quality through the deployment of new and advanced optimization techniques
• Prepare the annual Network function work plan and ensure the effective execution thereof in order to ensure the business objectives are achieved
• Monitor performance benchmarks for the Network function in order to ensure ongoing effectiveness 
• Prepare; monitor and control the annual Network budget and Bill of Quantities to ensure expenditure is in line with the business plan and follow its execution until capitalization is timeously done.
• Develop and maintain effective processes to ensure an effective interface to customer service departments; marketing; sales and finance departments, in collaboration with CTIO.
• Ensure reduction of expenditure via sharing of infrastructure and services; outsourcing/managed services and more effective use of existing assets
• Ensure standardization of network technology; including evolution path as well as standardized group architecture; toolkits; templates and ensure standardized processes for implementation and maintenance
• Ensure proper selection and effective management of Networks vendors to deliver the best services in both short term and long term
 
JOB REQUIREMENTS
 
Education & Language Skills
• Degree in Telecommunications/Electronic/Electrical Engineering  or equivalent 
• MSc or MBA Degree is an added advantage
• English written and spoken (this item includes an international dimension)
Work Experience 
• At least 8 years experiences in a Telecom environment covering Network Planning, Operations and Optimization of 2G, 3G, WiMAX, LTE Networks  in a technical capacity with management experience 
• At least 5 years management experience in Telecoms Management Budgeting, Vendor Management and Project Management skills are very important
 
Knowledge:
• Knowledge of Telecom Regulations 
• Sound general business knowledge as well as knowledge of core business processes 
• Sound understanding of the telecom environment and cellular technologies: GSM, WCDMA, LTE
• Understanding of best practice; tools, systems, techniques and methodologies used in network planning, operations and maintenance 
• Knowledge of systems architecture 
• Leadrship development programs 
• Very good computer skills (MS office, Windows…)
• Very good English & French Command
