Technical Manager – Gambia

Job Description

ECCBC is recruiting for a Technical Manager to be based in Gambia.  

Purpose of the role

As the Technical manager you will be responsible for ensuring that the plant produces in right Quantity, Quality Cost and Timing, ensuring fulfillment of GMP standards. You will also coordinate production, safety, maintenance, spares, quality assurance, purchasing and the sales department in order to attain the plant´s sales and profit goals. The Technical Manager will provide leadership, direction and motivation to all technical staff to achieve pre-agreed efficiency safety, GMP and quality goals in line with the objectives of the company.

Key areas of responsibility:

  • Develop and implement a plan which ensures technical support, maintenance support and corrective maintenance procedures with consistent follow up for the plant
  • Conduct monthly reporting of plant performance with an action plan  
  • Develop and manage a quality audit process
  • To lead the QHSE process monitoring and procedures in order to achieve the highest quality ratings as well as to eliminate product complaints at all times
  • Promote a safety culture in the plant with monthly reporting – adhering to the QHSE process with continuous monitoring to achieve a safe environment at the plant
  • Provide the sales department with reliable distribution plans and infrastructure at all times ensuring deadlines are met 
  • Manage and develop all technical staff – identifying training needs where required and initiating those programs

The successful candidate must meet the following:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or related) with an MBA as advantageous
  • Lean Six Sigma qualified or a similar certification 
  • A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in managing a plant or production facility in the FMCG or manufacturing industry from a multi-national company (compulsory)
  • Subject matter expert with experience in understanding the processes in production management and QHSE
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Experience in managing production plant with approximately 500 staff and more
  • Strong financial analysis skills
  • Experience in project management within the plant
  • Fluent in English
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence
