Job Description

Main Purpose of Role

&#149  Undertake operational activities on behalf of the department within the discipline of valve certification, repair and overhaul both offshore and onshore so as to ensure customers deadlines are achieved, and deligate where required for the Lead engineer.

&#149Assist the Lead Engineer in ensuring that required levels of profit are achieved by the department

&#149  To undertake at the instruction of the Lead engineer working relating to the certification / repair or overhaul upon valves or associated mechanical equipment either within the workshops of the company or upon a clients premises

&#149  To provide technical guidance and backup to both our clients and fellow engineers in the field of Valve engineering

&#149  Perform valve certification, repair and overhaul duties so as to deliver to our customers a complete and quality product

&#149  As per QMS03 ~ “Valve Engineers are directly responsible to the Lead Engineer for operational control and work coordination relating to Valve certification, repair and overhaul. Valve engineers report through the Lead Engineer and Senior Engineer to the Operations manager for any operational issues. Valve Engineers report through the Lead Engineer Surveyor and Senior Engineer to the Technical manager for any decisions relating to technical issues”

Key Accountabilities

&#149  To undertake valve certification, repair and overhaul both on and offshore at locations as advised by SGS so that customers’ needs are met in a safe, accurate and timely manner.

&#149  Ensure all Health and Safety requirements are met in accordance with the H&S at work act and the Management of H&S regulations.

&#149  Work in accordance with industry best practices and recommendations to which SGS subscribe (Safed / BVAA ) are met and implemented within the department as prescribed by Lead and Senior engineers.

&#149  Provide a valve certification, repair and overhaul service to customers to support their compliance or decision making and maximise return and efficiency.

&#149  At all times, adopt a safe behaviour by exercising due regard for the health and safety of yourself, colleagues, clients and the general public, in line with the Company’s policies and procedures.

&#149  Ensure full compliance with the Company’s Code of Integrity & Professional Conduct, and at all times adopt behaviour in accordance with SGS Angola Equality & Diversity policy.

&#149  Ensure completed certificates are off the required quality and content in accordance with legislative requirements and industry best practices.

&#149  All Further accountabilities are as per Industrial Quality Manual doc. QMS03

&#149  To always work in accordance with SGS issued procedures and under applicable risk assessments during all work activities.

The below is as per the industrial Quality Manual ref: QMS03

The Engineer shall meet the following requirements as

Minimum

Education: indentured apprenticeship in a relevant Mechanical engineering discipline, or  , suitable relevant experience within the specific field of valve overhaul / repair / certification

Training: Training needs will be established during induction and will depend on education, knowledge and experience. On an ongoing basis additional requirements will be identified as necessary to meet the accredited scope of activities.

Technical knowledge: Suitable to make professional judgements on the range of safety related problems likely to arise from the scope of activities.

Experience: As detailed within Indiv Quality manual ref QMS03.

Desirable

Education: Mechanical engineering degree.

Training: A proven training record including C.P.D. in the disciplines of valve certification and general mechanical engineering..

Technical knowledge: Able to make professional judgements on the range of

valve related problems likely to arise from the scope of activities. Knowledge of all types of valves including pilot and conventional.

Independent user of Computer

Experience: As detailed within Indiv Quality manual ref QMS03.

Performance Indicators

&#149  To assist the Lead engineer where required to achieve all LC targets and revenues.

&#149  To ensure that zero valid customer complaints are received in relation to working undertaken

&#149  To mobilize as and when required to both on-shore and off shore locations as requested by Lead engineer

&#149  To complete POWRA forms as and when required and always work in a safe and controlled manor

&#149  To ensure no safety related reasonably foreseeable accidents are incurred that may have been preventable.
