Geocycle, Business Development & Strategy

Job Description

Lafarge Plc. will be interviewing for this role during the Careers in Africa London Summit on the 18th and 19th of April 2024.

Responsible for developing relevant business initiatives to achieve the long term and short-term targets for the Geocycle business. Support to deliver targeted volumes of Alternative resources with optimized cost to ensure overall cost reduction in manufacturing process
 
MAIN ACTIVITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
Health & Safety:
  • Adhere to and enforce relevant legislation and policies and ensure that the highest degree of safety and safe working practices are maintained.
 
Functional:
  • Accountable for developing and implementation of Geocycle commercial strategy to aligned to midterm and long term vision.
  • Ensure material delivery as per target, across various categories of waste streams ensuring
  • Negotiate short term and long term contract for source security at targeted cost, to ensure value creation within business.
 
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT & STRATEGY
  •  
  • Develop appreciate supply chain for each waste category support least cost delivery to plant
  • Inbound Logistics scheduling to maintain required stocks for operations without exceeding working capital targets
  • Asset Utilization Management of direct plant assets and of site assets (water wells, electrical and utility assets)
  • Compliance with running local, state and federal environmental regulations
  • Country CAPEX portfolio management including project design, planning, execution and Capex cash management
  • Budget planning, regular forecasting and reporting of actuals to the Finance function
  • Sourcing and Production planning and asset utilization planning, contributing to the S&OP
  • Safe operations within plants to process with inbound alternative material meeting internal acceptance criteria for the cement operations.
  • Ensure compliance of business Commercial process to internal/ external protocol
  • Capex planning and execution for plant maintenance and development towards cost optimization and long term sustainability of its competitiveness, giving inputs to the Strategic review process

Personal Specification

  • Management degree/Engineering degree
  • Technical Skills: Sound understanding and sharp acumen on commercial processes. Good negotiator with relevant know how on business financial matrix.
  • Overall understanding of cement manufacturing
  • Experience: 15 years’ operational experience in commercial activities
  • Sound understanding of B2B/B2C marketing and product management
  • Confirmed experience in Sales, Planning, Logistics and Project management, and overall retail operations.
  • Solid business understanding (construction materials) and business acumen
  • Sound customer orientation awareness
  • Finance Knowledge (i.e. Income Statement, Balance Sheet etc.)
  • Solid analytical skills to run/interpret complex and detailed analysis
  • IT skills to develop, use and maintain analytical tools (i.e. QlikView)
  • Ability to define, launch and embed functional Sales skills framework
  • Ability to define and develop career progression for Sales Field Force
  • Must be available to attend the London Summit on 18th or 19th of April 2024
