NMC Engineer

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Ensuring continuous 24/7 network supervision of all Operator Network nodes 
  • Carrying out all regular O&M routines and preventive maintenance activities to minimise system downtime, such as: monitoring the availability of network resources and capacities, switching and compression systems health checks, routine hardware checks, system backups etc 
  • Providing 1st line O&M including accurate and timely problem remedy, escalation, and resolution of any failures in the shortest possible time and within set reaction and remedy Time targets applicable to various fault categories 
  • Following up on remedial efforts, including vendor support, until the closure of the trouble ticket or NMC shift handover 
  • Performing assessment, implementation, and review of change requests following change management processes 
  • Informing affected parties (customer care, interconnecting operators, and similar) of network service outages and degradations (whether planned or not), their extent and anticipated duration, as well as of eventual remedy 
  • Coordination with different departments like NSS, BSS, Transmission, IN/VAS, and higher management. 
  • Participating in executing Network upgrade projects initiated by Projects Planning, Control, and Optimization Department as per requirements 
  • Gathering statistical network performance data for performance analysis 
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable policies & regular requirements on Information Security 
  • Knowledge of VPN, VLAN to address faults 
  • Knowledge with NetAct is a plus 

Personal Specification

  • B.Sc in Telecommunication Engineering 
  • 2-5 work years of experience 
  • Comprehensive knowledge of all network segments and nodes (GSM 4G/3G/2G) 
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills 
  • Practical working experience in Telecom is preferred 
  • Capability of multi-tasking, good time management, and prioritisation of workload
  • Ability to work well in a busy team, being quick to learn and being able to work well under pressure
  • Good technical English – oral and written (equipment manuals and support) 
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to collect and interpret data from various sources 
  • Ability to work on shifts including weekends and holidays 
  • Strong knowledge of basic computer skills (e.g. MS Office applications) 
  • Good customer service skills especially through handling calls
