Job Description

The African Guarantee Fund (AGF) is a Pan-African financial institution dedicated to empowering SMEs by providing financial guarantees and capacity-building support, fostering economic growth and stability.

We are seeking a Group Director, Communications & Public Relations to develop and implement AGF’s communication strategies, ensuring the organization maintains a strong and credible reputation across key stakeholders. This strategic role involves overseeing brand management, media relations, digital engagement, and corporate communications to enhance AGF’s visibility and impact.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute communication strategies to align with AGF’s brand positioning and stakeholder engagement goals.
  • Ensure brand consistency across internal and external communications, including emails, proposals, and presentations.
  • Oversee content creation and publication of key communication materials in collaboration with agencies and designers.
  • Manage corporate messaging by writing, editing, and reviewing reports, press releases, speeches, and other materials.
  • Lead AGF’s digital and social media presence by developing and implementing engagement strategies.
  • Maintain strong media relations by coordinating press engagements, tracking media coverage, and responding to inquiries.
  • Plan and execute corporate events to enhance brand awareness and strengthen stakeholder relationships.

Personal Specification

Education & Experience

Master’s degree in a business-related field with 15+ years of fundraising experience, ideally in DFIs.

Sector Knowledge & Expertise

Strong understanding of international development, expertise in impact investment structuring, and knowledge of guarantees and technical assistance.

Relationship Building & Networking

Proven ability to engage stakeholders, build partnerships, and leverage networks in venture capital, impact investing, and philanthropy.

Analytical & Communication Skills

Data-driven decision-making, grant writing expertise, and fluency in English and French with strong presentation skills.

Cultural Awareness & Collaboration

Strong cross-cultural, negotiation, and influencing skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams and stakeholders.
