Senior Manager: Supply Chain Finance

Afreximbank is seeking a qualified professional to fill the role of Supply Chain Finance Lead within their Trade Finance department. In this pivotal position, you will play a key role in driving the strategic growth of our Supply Chain Finance business, with a focus on Factoring. Your responsibilities will include crafting and implementing marketing plans, developing innovative strategies for market penetration, and actively securing mandates in various supply chain segments.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Supply Chain Finance initiatives within the Trade Finance department, implementing strategic plans to enhance business growth, particularly in Factoring.
  • Collaborate in the development of Marketing Plans for Supply Chain Finance, seeking Management’s approval.
  • Execute strategies for entering diverse supply chain segments and factoring, aligning with approved marketing plans.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy and implementation plan for the Unit.
  • Collaborate with Innovation & Product Development to identify and implement suitable software for Supply Chain Finance.
  • Ensure compliance with governance requirements and drive adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Foster customer base growth, achieve targets, and optimise capital deployment efficiency.
  • Drive and execute key strategic initiatives that impact the delivery of solutions across Africa.
  • Facilitate alignment across regions and provide support to other teams as needed.
  • Cultivate strong working relationships with Client Relations, Credit Assessment, Risk, and Compliance teams.
  • Serve as a Supply Chain Finance advocate to ensure key objectives are met.
  • Provide expert support to Client Relations by structuring supply chain transactions and ensuring alignment with required standards.
  • Contribute as a key member of the Bank’s Factoring Working Group, implementing the revised Factoring Strategy.
  • Collaborate with the Intra African Initiative (IATI) and Client Relations to execute Reverse Factoring and Factoring pipeline deals.
  • Work with Legal to establish standardised documentation for Supply Chain Financing as necessary.
  • Evaluate and review credit proposals, providing recommendations to management.
  • Represent the Bank in high-level meetings, forums, and presentations, adhering to the Bank’s esteemed standards.
  • Undertake any additional duties assigned by Senior Management

Personal Specification

  • Bachelor’s and post-graduate degree in Business Administration, Banking, or Finance from a recognised University.
    A recognized post-graduate professional qualification in Banking is advantageous.
    Minimum of 8 years of experience with a leading financial services organisation, with expertise in major trade finance products
  • Familiarity with syndication, co-financing, club deals, correspondent banking products, letters of credit, factoring, forfaiting, structured trade finance, corporate finance risk participation, and project-related financing.
  • Ability to operate in a culturally diverse and change-oriented setting, with a strong understanding of banking practices in Africa.
  • Strong communication skills in English plus  French, Arabic, or Portuguese fluency.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, with the ability to organise and manage human resources effectively.
    Passion and commitment to the socio-economic empowerment of African countries, aligned with Afreximbank’s mandate.
  • ​Able to relocate to Abijan, Abuja, Harare, Cairo, Yaounde, Kampala
