Branch Manager

Job Description

Job Purpose:

  • To run the branch as a profit centre, managing the sales process by acquiring new business and deepening existing customer relationships and maintaining operational efficiency while providing the appropriate service standards.
  • To manage the service of corporate clients in the branch so as to maximise on the benefit accrued to the bank from this segment.
  • To ensure risk levels are minimized and acceptable so as to enhance revenues and profitability of the branch.

  • Ensure that your members of Staff are developed to achieve their maximum potential whilst also coaching them to build their awareness of the strengths/development needs of their people.
  • Support the Zonal Manager and HR in the management of the zonal resource plan, ensuring the prompt reporting of gaps to the Zonal Office for action
  • With the Zonal Manager & Commercial Department agree challenging performance objectives and measures for direct reports and provide regular feedback and honest assessment on achievement.
  • In the way you lead on a daily basis, be a role model for new and junior employees – doing things wholeheartedly, communicating with passion and enthusiasm, and embracing change as a way of working.
  • Encouraging individual ownership, initiative and challenge of the status quo.
  • Pursue your own development to increase personal effectiveness.
  • Determine and manage Training Needs Analysis and Succession plans for direct reports.
  • Act as leading role in Performance Management of branch  employees as per HR Guidelines 
  • Understand, own and bring to life the Strategy of your Zone to your staff
  • Provide clear direction on the Retail / Branch business objectives, translating and prioritizing into business performance measures at branch level.
  • Accountable for overall achievement of Branch performance objectives for nominated branches in the zones:
  • Own and drive Customer Service Change Initiatives and enhance Customer experience
  • Own, Lead and drive the branch Sales Initiative
  • Grow the number of Accounts and the Loan book as agreed and delegated
  • Ensure that the branch Expenditure is well within the approved budget and that all expenses are authorized.
  • Ensure a robust Risk and Control Environment in the Branch
  • Ensure that the branch Audit Risk rating is always Satisfactory
  • Quality of branch aggregate loan portfolio not to exceed 6% at all times
  • Work with the Zonal Office and other Head Office departments to ensure realization of overall NMB goals.
  • Work together with Zonal Manager and Zonal support as one team to deliver the exceptional performance across the zone.
  • Provide cover for other Branch Managers and deputies for the Zonal Manager as required.
