Business Development Manager Solar – Nairobi (Kenya)

Job Description

REPORTING TO :  Lighting General Manager

SECTOR:  Lighting


Implement and develop the execution and presence in assigned Division and execute the commercial Policy for specific distribution channel as set by the business.

Lead the team of Segment Sales managers’ level.

Drive the Country business performance improvement.

Realize top line, pricing and bottom line targets set by the lighting East Africa General Manager.

Assigned a proper go to market approach , develop the distributor performance according to agreed KPI’s 


Develop the Division AOP by Channel / Category/SKU

Realizing the turnover, cost and sales forecast are in place and review team achievement on monthly base.

Develop and maintain long term relationship with the customers in the Channel(s)

Develop and execute the Channel & Distribution Strategy.

Develop and execute financing models for solar projects

Develop action plans based upon the overall Strategy plan for channel(s) (Country / regional level).

Ensure that all approved market plans are in place/ appropriate execution.

Meet budget and agreed targets and ensure EBIT achievement for Solar

Gather local market information and feedback via marketing intelligence function

Constantly improving business performance, based on gathering market insight.

Manage and coordinate internal relationship across channels, functions and business groups.

Continuously develop and increase the team’s competency.

Communicate Philips standards to the field and follow-up implementation.

Review the Distributors Performance and communicate the results on quarter base with recommendations.


Bachelors degree in business or engineering

MBA is advantage 

Age:  not above 35 years

Technical knowledge of lamps or solar

Communication skills 

8-12 years experience in sales with minimum 5 year experience in management position in multinational company 


Strong organizational skills, Management skills ,ability to work under pressure, team player

Analytical skills, dynamic, decision maker.

Attention to details and accuracy in working

Aptitude for Budgeting and Planning

Capable of working individually as well as in a team

Computer savvy in terms of analytical & presentation skills.

Fluency in English with strong communication skills is essential. 

Proven achievement record of establishing and maintaining relationships

Be able to work in a fast paced multi-cultural environment.
