Job Description

PURPOSE OF ROLE:
The Management Trainee participates in Seadrill’s Management Trainee Program (MTP) which is designed to develop high-potential personnel into management level positions over a four year period. The first phase of the MTP program is a two year intensive program combining progressive offshore and onshore assignments. MTP participants will be evaluated frequently to determine ongoing advancement in the program. Upon graduation from the program, MTP participants begin phase two by being placed into an offshore or onshore position where they will work under the guidance of the Rig Manager for up to two years during which time they will undergo further development and evaluation before being placed into a management level role.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Actively participate in all roles and assignments in the MTP.• Learn all aspects of oil well drilling operations including equipment, people, and procedures.• Complete training requirements in a timely manner as per Seadrill training matrix. Portion of field break time will be spent in training courses and programs.• Complete competency requirements for current position.• Write and submit monthly reports to Rig Manager and Operations Excellence Manager.• Participate in quarterly performance reviews. Adapt to constructive feedback and modify performance, if needed, to ensure development stays on track.• Undergo semi-annual and annual evaluations by management team.• Meet with mentors regularly to gain feedback on performance and address any issues or concerns.• Effectively use all safety and environmental tools employed by Seadrill.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
Minimum Bachelor level degree; prefer candidates with a degree in an engineering (mechanical, civil and marine) or business discipline.Experience:Candidate must have demonstrated leadership and work skills through employment or internship Opportunities during college; prefer candidates who have a minimum of 1-3 years work experience after or before college in heavy industry, oil & gas, drilling operations, shipping/marine environment or military.

The successful candidate must be willing and able to:
• Work well with others at all levels of the organization including personnel on drilling rig and in an office/corporate setting• Understand the importance of a safe working environment and a strong safety culture within the organization• Maintain a positive attitude, think effectively and make decisions under pressure• Perform physically demanding work in a harsh, offshore environment in all types of weather conditions• Demonstrate and use effective organizational and time management skills• Have the desire and ability to work in drilling operations on a rotational offshore schedule• Have the desire and ability to work and reside in Houston, Texas in an office environment as job and career path require• Be away from home for long periods of time (up to 12-15 weeks if needed)• Undergo many hours of classroom and hands-on training• Expertly use Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project)• Demonstrate excellent English verbal and written communication skills• Adapt to changing priorities and environment
