Reporting Head of Department – Regulatory & Public Policy,
Job PurposeThe role holder is responsible for providing leadership in Economic and Interconnect regulation and ensure that the business is at all times well prepared on economic issues to enable it to respond to regulatory environments and competition.
Key Responsibilities:
• File Quarterly & Annual Compliance Returns with CCK;• Participate in development of national legislation, regulations and policy affecting the industry;• Undertake detailed research and benchmarking for purposes of developing Safaricom’s position in response to legislative and GOK policy changes from time to time;• Manage the relationships with local Interconnect partners to ensure compliance with all regulations;• Manage regulatory issues/interventions resulting from local and regional regulatory bodies on interconnection matters;• Management of the Interconnection Framework Review and determination of interconnect rates.
Role requirements;
• A degree in Finance, Economics, Law or a business related field from a recognized university;• Advanced knowledge in Business finance, Accounting, statistics, Quantitative techniques / CPA (K) would be an advantage;• 5 years’ experience in a Regulatory environment within a telecommunications company;• A good understanding of the Telecommunications Industry;• Post Graduate Qualifications will be an advantage.
