Role Summary/Purpose

The Sourcing Leader – South Africa will ensure that all sourcing activities for a given project in the country are managed to deliver goods and services on time, within budget and meeting customer requirements whilst fulfilling localization targets. This position works closely with following stakeholders: Regional Sourcing Leader, Supplier Quality, Tendering, Engineering, Construction, Project Management and Strategic Sourcing

 

Essential Responsibilities

  • • Ownership of monitoring and reporting through the execution of the team and a robust operating rhythm
  • • Set, Monitor and Report on Sourcing targets across different projects within South Africa
  •  Planning and allocation of adequate resources (employees, skills, tools and suppliers)
  • Provide oversight for the development and deployment of Sourcing policies and procedures to drive execution and compliance whilst providing feedback to the Sourcing Centre of Excellence (COE)
  • Alignment with Strategic Sourcing commodity network and actively contribute to the commodity strategy definition. Thereafter ensure procurement units applies those strategies
  • Maximize the localization targets, develop local Suppliers, drive BBBEE developments to build competitive advantage in the country.
  • Timely qualification of local suppliers to serve current and future project needs
  • Responsible for driving contractual delivery and performance improvement from suppliers
  •  Leadership and motivation by establishing an efficient communication of the principles, objectives, targets and processes. Coach, mentor, and develop talent
  • Promote GE values and integrity

 

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree (Business or Technical preferred) from an accredited University
  • 10+ years of Sourcing / Project Management experience
  • Experience in Power Plant or large Industrial Projects an advantage
  • Demonstrated leadership and team development abilities
  • Must have valid authorisation to work full-time without any restriction in the role’s location
