General Manager, Risk and Compliance

Job Description

The General Manager Risk and Compliance manages all risk exposures of an internal or external nature (strategic, operational, compliance, financial, technology, external, etc) and ensures the existence of effective internal processes and policies in general and specifically in relation to compliance to laws and regulations across the MTN Footprint. The role is responsible for overseeing risk-taking/ risk management activities across the opco as well as implementation of all aspects of the risk and compliance function, including implementation of processes, tools, and systems to identify, assess, measure, manage, monitor, and report risks.

Personal Specification

Academic Qualifications

  • A minimum of a BAC+4 (equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree) in Business Administration, Risk Management, Finance, or a related discipline; an MBA or Master’s degree is highly advantageous.
  • Bilingual with excellence in both English and French

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience

  • Demonstrated expertise in Risk Management and Business Continuity; experience in Insurance is a strong advantage.
  • In-depth knowledge of MTN’s business strategy, as well as its Risk, Compliance, and Audit frameworks.
  • Solid understanding of relevant legal and regulatory environments.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and solve problems effectively.
  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders, resolve conflicts, and manage client relationships.
  • Excellent communication skills and a demonstrated capacity for innovation.
