Senior Instrument Engineer

Aker Solutions are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented professional to join their team. In this role, you will assist the Lead or Principal Engineer in ensuring project requirements are met while executing all technical duties efficiently and competently. You will also be responsible for adhering to Aker Solutions’ values, systems, and processes, including PEM and AKIiMS, to maintain operational excellence.

Organisational Responsibilities:

  • Act as Task Lead Engineer when assigned.
  • Assist in preparing CTRs and man-hour estimates via AKIMS.
  • Execute duties professionally, ensuring work is on schedule and within budget.
  • Ensure project deliverables are generated via AKIMS where applicable.
  • Review and check work of others.
  • Support lead/principal engineers in planning, coordination, and execution of work.
  • Liaise with other disciplines on design, construction, fabrication, and commissioning.
  • Supervise and direct subordinate engineers.
  • Assist in weekly progress reporting via AKIMS.
  • Provide technical guidance to drawing office personnel.
  • Deputise for the Principal Engineer when needed (holiday/sickness cover).
  • Manage instrument, F&G, and Telecommunications system packaged equipment.
  • Attend relevant meetings.
  • Basic knowledge of design software (PDMS, Navisworks, AutoCAD).

Task Lead Responsibilities:

  • Oversee single/multi-discipline engineering modifications or project scope delivery.
  • Define and manage scope of work per client requirements.
  • Accountable for multi-discipline CTRs/man-hours and maintaining productivity levels.

Technical Responsibilities:

  • Develop engineering concepts into detailed designs.
  • Conduct manual and computer analysis.
  • Prepare CTR estimates for instrument scopes.
  • Develop construction and commissioning procedures.
  • Familiar with HAZOP/HAZID, Functional Safety, and IEC 61511 (Safety Instrumented Systems).
  • Review vendor information, assist in inspections and testing.
  • Perform discipline checks, inter-discipline reviews, and subordinate work checks.
  • Attend Factory Acceptance Tests and meetings.
  • Conduct onshore/offshore surveys and resolve site queries.

Personal Specification

Qualifications 

  • Educated to HNG/HND level in engineering discipline
  • Educated to degree level in engineering discipline
  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer
  • TÜV Rheinland Certified

Specific Training / Specialist Skills 

  • Sound working knowledge of relevant industry codes and standards
  • Conversant with appropriate technical software
  • Aware of latest technical developments
  • Current Offshore Survival Certificate.
  • Current Offshore Medical Certificate.
