Manager: Strategic & Business Planning

Job Description

Lead the formulation of the Bank’s strategic direction by collaborating with cross-functional teams, assessing evolving priorities, and analysing strategic goals.

Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the development of the Bank’s long-term strategic plan and annual business plan for approval by Senior Management and the Board of Directors.
  • Develop strategy and product papers aligned with the corporate strategic plan for approval by Senior Management and the Board of Directors.
  • Continuously monitor internal and external events affecting the Bank, providing intellectual leadership for both short-term tactics and long-term vision.
  • Offer professional input into the Bank’s annual business planning and budgeting process, translating strategic goals into actionable plans for efficient task allocation.
  • Communicate approved long-term and annual business plans to all staff, establishing monitoring and reporting mechanisms for Senior Management and staff.
  • Analyse and recommend enhancements to internal business processes, leveraging industry knowledge and management consulting skills.
  • Participate in the preparation of the Bank’s Annual, Half Year, and End of Year reports.
  • Establish and implement a customer feedback loop to ensure a customer-centric focus in the Bank’s lending activities.
  • Collaborate with the Risk Management department to define the Bank’s annual risk appetite.
  • Monitor and evaluate the implementation of strategic plans, identifying deviations and recommending corrective actions.
  • Undertake any other duties as assigned by Senior Management.

Personal Specification

  • Postgraduate degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or related fields from a recognised University.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience as a Strategy and Business Planning professional, preferably in consulting or financial services.
  • Proven experience in preparing and presenting strategic business plans in the financial services industry, with expertise in financial analysis, modeling, and statistical analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide strategic insights into industry, consumer, and competitor trends.
  • Clear understanding of trade development issues in Africa and skills in economic forecasting.
  • Strong presentation skills with the ability to sell ideas to Senior Management.
  • Cultural awareness and adaptability in a diverse and change-oriented setting, with knowledge of business planning practices in Africa.
  • Ability to interact with senior officials of international agencies, multilaterals, banks, corporates, and governments.
  • Strong research skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Excellent communication skills in English plus French, Arabic or Portuguese fluency.
  • Able to relocate to Abijan, Abuja, Harare, Cairo, Yaounde, Kampala
