What Helios Towers Does

Helios Towers is a market-leading independent telecom tower infrastructure company and are market leaders in Tanzania, Democratic Republic of Congo (“DRC”) and Congo Brazzaville (“Congo B”) and Senegal. We are a leading operator in Ghana with a strong urban portfolio and established a presence in South Africa in 2019. Our principal business lies in building, acquiring and operating telecommunications towers that are capable of accommodating and powering the needs of multiple tenants. These tenants are typically large MNOs and other telecommunications providers who in turn provide wireless voice and data services, primarily to end-consumers and businesses.

Our mission is to be the leading telecoms infrastructure company in Africa driven by the strategy of sustainable profitable growth and to deliver value to our stakeholders.

We offer comprehensive tower-related operational services, including site selection, site preparation, maintenance, security and power management. We provide space on our tower sites under a combination of master lease agreements (MLAs), which provide the commercial terms that govern the provision of tower space, and individual site agreements (ISAs), which act as an appendix to the relevant MLA and include site-specific information. We also enter into ground lease agreements with property owners to host our sites on their land.

Our Difference

We enter into contracts of typically 10-15 years’ duration with our customers. So, unlike client/supplier models characterised by ad hoc transactions or projects, we form partnerships for the long haul. In turn, this means constantly anticipating our customers’ needs, not only now but in years ahead, and never ceasing to drive up service levels and efficiencies. We regard customers as business partners; our futures are interdependent and we are proud of the emphatically positive feedback they communicate to us.
